Hull City have boosted their attacking options in time for Saturday's trip to the Cobblers with the signing of winger Hakeeb Adelakun on a season-long loan from Championship side Bristol City.

Adelakun has been something of a nemesis for the Cobblers in previous meetings, scoring the only goal for Scunthorpe United in an FA Cup victory in 2017 before collecting three assists in a league fixture the following weekend.

The 24-year-old, who becomes Hull's ninth summer signing, has also played for Rotherham where he won promotion last season.

Born in Hackney, the 6’3” wideman was on Crystal Palace and West Ham’s books as a youngster before moving to Glanford Park in 2012.

“Hakeeb is a player I’ve admired for a few years now,” said Tigers head coach Grant McCann. “Seeing him at Scunthorpe, and managing against him, he was always a threat for them. He had a tremendous time there, in terms of goals and assists.

“He’s coming here on the back of knowing what it’s like to get promoted, and what it’s like to challenge. He was in a successful Scunthorpe team that twice just missed out on promotion. He went to Rotherham last season and they got promoted. He knows what it takes.

“He’s a really, really good signing. What I like about him as well is he’s flexible. He can play across the front three, as a number 10, and he brings us pace and power, which I feel can be a big factor for us this season.”
