Cobblers chairman Kelvin Thomas says the club are happy to wait before starting talks with players who will be out of contract in the summer.

A number of first-team players are out of contract at the end of the current season, including regulars David Cornell, Jordan Turnbull, Vadaine Oliver, Paul Anderson and Sam Hoskins.

Michael Harriman, Alan McCormack, Mark Marshall and Andy Williams are also due to be free agents in the summer, as is Shaun McWilliams who will miss the rest of the season through a serious knee injury.

But Thomas is 'relaxed' about the situation and says the focus is on trying to win promotion out of League Two, which, if achieved, would influence any contract negotiations.

"I don't think there'll be much discussion on player contracts at this point," said Thomas.

"Last season it was OK because you could start those conversations a bit earlier as we had secured where we were going to be the following year.

"At the moment, we're not sure where we're going to be next season so that'll dictate some of those conversations.

"I think there might be a few that happen and a few that might not but you also look at the loan players and where we go with those.

"At the moment, I think the focus is just on the games and then those conversations will need to happen and we'll have them.

"But we've shown in the way we run the club that we're on top of most things and we're comfortable and we're relaxed about it.

"We make sure we have conversations at the appropriate times and we'll get things done."
