Cobblers have been accused of over-celebrating more than once this season but they’ve also received lots of praise en route to their promotion to League One, and of course there’s been no shortage of criticism for referees and officials from all sides. Here are some of the best, worst and most amusing quotes from opposition managers over the past 10 months...

9. 'Northampton will get promoted'
"There's a reason why Northampton are going to get promoted and that's because they are one of the best teams in the league," predicted Gills boss Neil Harris after his side were beaten at Sixfields in April. "It's a great strike to win it but do we get out of our box quick enough? Do we close the shot down? Do we give the ball away too cheaply in the build-up? These are the little things that are important to teams and that's why teams that are at the top of the league do things consistently well." Photo: Pete Norton

10. 'Credit to Northampton'
Harrogate manager Simon Weaver: "The third goal came at a bad time because they might have got a little bit nervous at 2-1 in the second-half, but credit to Northampton, they have been successful because they hurt you in different ways. They aren't always dominant in games but they carry a threat on the break and they have big, strong lads with good quality all over the pitch, even with all of their injury problems." 11. 'We weren't going to be any part of that'
'The Northampton fans obviously came here to celebrate with the clappers and the flags and goodness knows what else before the game," said Mark Hughes after his side won 2-1 at Sixfields. "We talked about it before the game and we weren't going to be any part of that. I didn't hear too many of the clappers in the first-half, a little bit more in the second, but we stuck at it and we stood up to them." Photo: George Wood

12. 'We want to get to where they are'
"We want to get to where they are and we need to look at what’s needed in the summer to do that," admitted Tranmere manager Ian Dawes. "We need to be competing at the right end of the table come the last day of the season, like Northampton, because it really hurts me that another team is celebrating on our turf. We have to make sure that’s us next season.” Photo: Charlotte Tattersall
