Second Northampton Town League Two game postponed

Cobblers have had another League Two game called off due to international call-ups.

With next week’s trip to Port Vale already postponed due to call-ups within Jon Brady’s squad, Cobblers are now set for a three-week break from action after news that the visit of Oldham Athletic on October 3rd will also no longer go ahead as originally planned.

That’s because Northampton have had at least three players selected by their countries. The individuals in question have not been confirmed but Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh (Ireland Under-21s), Tyrese Fornah (Sierra Leone), Sam Chambers (Scotland Under-19s) and Janoi Donacien (Saint Lucia) have been in the mix for selection. Clubs need to have at least three players called up to be given the option to postpone matches.

The autumn international break this season has been extended to take place across two weekends – September 26th/27th through to October 3rd/4th. That means the Premier League and Championship will effectively shutdown for three weeks, and now Cobblers too no longer play a league game between September 19th and October 10th, although they do go to Cambridge United in the EFL Trophy on October 6th. That fixture is expected to remain unaffected.

Any supporters who have match tickets for the game are asked to keep them safe as they will be valid for the rearranged date, which will be announced in due course.
