SATURDAY COMBINATION: Arundell hits five as Blisworth see off Sports
Ross Arundell was James King Blisworth's five-goal star as they claimed an excellent 6-3 win over United Counties League side Peterborough Sports Reserves in the NFA Les Underwood Junior Cup.
It was a long trip for the Blisworth boys, but it was all worthwhile thanks to Arundell’s goal blast and a single from Mark Faulkner.
In the NFA Lower Junior Cup, Crick Athletic were 5-1 winners over Roade Reserves .
Corby Kingswood hosted Daventry Drayton Grange and although the visitors scored through Nathan Reynolds and Jamie Sedgley, it was Kingswood who won 3-2.
Northampton Spartak are struggling in the league, and they were no match for UCL side Bugbrooke Reserves as they went down 4-1.
In the Duston Garage Premier Division, Harpole are up to third after they secured a 4-2 win at Corby S&L Khalsa.
Heyford Athletic maintain their place in the league table after a 4-1 win over Spratton, while Moulton, who are in need of some points, suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Wollaston Victoria.
Roade had a comfortable 4-0 win over Earls Barton United, leaving them in a good position, close behind league leaders James King Blisworth.
In Duston Garage Division One, top-of-the-table Wootton St George had a wobble against Kettering Orchard Park as they dropped points in a goalless draw.
Woodford Wolves travelled to West Haddon and were not left disappointed as they eased to a 4-1 win.
In Duston Garage Division Two, AFC Houghton Magna moved six points clear of third-placed Grange Park although they could only manage a 2-2 draw with Bugbrooke A.
Houghton scored through Paul Dempsey and Tom Burston, with George Bonifas and George Payne replying for Bugbrooke.
Mereway made it 11 wins from 11 games with a 9-1 home win over 10th-placed Higham Town, and they are now five points clear at the top.
In Duston Garage Division Three, Brixworth All Saints Reserves couldn’t make home advantage count against third-placed Kettering Nomads Reserves who have only lost three out of 11 games to keep them four points clear of fourth-placed Weedon.
Second-placed Bugbrooke B made home advantage count with a 3-1 win over mid-table Daventry Rangers thanks to two goals from Daniel Camacho and a single from Paul MacKay.
Corby Ravens condemned Weedon to only their second loss of the season, winning 3-2. On target for Weedon were Cory Bailey and Alex O’Connor.
Fifth-placed Wollaston Reserves inflicted only the second defeat of JLB’s season with a 3-2 home win. Wollaston scored through Thomas Legg (2) and Samuel Attfield, with Ben Gerner netting both for JLB.
In Duston Garage Division Four, second-placed Harpole Reserves drew 3-3 with Northampton Falcons with Stuart Schofield scoring twice and Damien Czyzewski once.
Yelvertoft were 9-2 winners over Heyford Athletic Reserves with Michael Hall hitting a hat-trick, Kane Maunder two and singles for Thomas Hudson, Callum James and David Rawes. Heyford replied through Nick Hollowell and Jack Lee.
