Striker Danny Rose has given Jon Brady his backing for the Cobblers job on a full-time basis.

Brady, assisted by Ian Sampson and Marc Richards, was appointed caretaker manager last Wednesday following Keith Curle's exit.

His first game in charge ended with defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday, but when asked if he would like to see Brady given a longer crack at the job, Rose gave an emphatic response.

"Definitely, 100 per cent," he said. "I can't speak highly enough of him. He's only been in two days but he's tried to switch the mentality and instil confidence into the group.

"He's just tried to free us up and put belief into us that we can get out of this relegation scrap. His training sessions have been really good and Rico and Sammo have been brilliant as well.

"I don't think you can judge a manager off one game but there were positives from it and now hopefully we can take that into Ipswich because we need to pick up points.

"It's fine putting in performances and that but we need to get out of the bottom four and pick up points quickly."

Rose was brought to the club by Curle last summer but saw his manager depart after a run of one win in 10.

"It's not nice when a manager leaves but that's football," he added. "You can't feel sorry for yourself because we need to start producing better performances and picking up points very quickly.

"I can't speak highly enough of Keith though. I played against his sides a lot of times, whether it was Carlisle or Northampton, and he was brilliant with me, as was (Colin) Westy.

"But now we've got to move on and hopefully if Jon does get the job, we rally around him and put performances in and pick up results."
