Cobblers caretaker boss Jon Brady is pleased with the progress of the pitch at the PTS Academy Stadium ahead of tonight's big game against Rochdale.

Brady came out after last week's game at Ipswich Town and spoke about the importance of improving Town's home pitch to suit his style of football.

Ten days without a home game and improved weather, plus Brady's decision to hold some training sessions at Moulton College, has helped Paul Knowles and his team work on the playing surface.

"The pitch is getting better and I think the weather helped," said Brady.

"It's suffered like so many other pitches all around the country but Paul Knowles and all his staff have been hard at work on it and they're looking after the pitches up at Moulton as well and they have also improved.

"I think we're getting the balance right now because we're putting on some great sessions up at Moulton and we're giving the pitch at our ground a nice breather.

"I think it will be a lot better than it has been and we're only talking about eight or nine days so that's a real positive for us."

Tonight's game brings together two sides in desperately poor form. Between then, Northampton and Rochdale have one win in 21 matches in 2021.

Looking ahead to the game, Brady said: "We are preparing for all circumstances and we will have a gameplan to try and exploit any weaknesses they have.

"They look extremely workmanlike and we'll have to be at our best to break them down. We're expecting a battle and we'll be up for that."
