Cobblers, who start against Colchester United at Sixfields, are one of those teams fancied for promotion after going so close last year but they will have strong competition from the likes of Stockport County and Bradford City, among others. Reporter James Heneghan takes a stab at predicting how the final League Two table will look (don’t shout, it’s just a bit of fun!)….
5. Northampton Town
Expectations are high among both supporters and outsiders but Cobblers will have their work cut out to repeat last season's excellence in what should be a competitive division. Recruitment has been strong on paper and in Brady and Calderwood, they have a coaching team that has already proven very effective at this level. Squad has better depth and balance but still light in attacking areas. Very young too, which could make for some inconsistency. Add one or two flair players though and top three is very much on. 6. Salford City
Always expected to be up there given their budget and this could well be fourth time lucky. Gone down the same route as Crawley by appointing a well-regarded young manager in Neil Wood from Manchester United's academy. Title odds: 8/1. Photo: Jan Kruger
7. Leyton Orient
Expected to go well under Richie Wellens, who has a League Two title on his CV, and bolstered an already strong attack with the eye-catching addition of George Moncur. Big Harry Smith has some strong competition. Title odds: 16/1. Photo: Dan Mullan
8. Newport County
Lost some key men but have an impressive young manager in James Rowberry and should be up there again. Chanka Zimba will be one of the men tasked with replacing Dom Telford's goals. Title odds: 25/1. Photo: Harry Trump
