Scott Pollock says he wants more minutes for the Cobblers between now and the end of the season after his attention-grabbing display off the bench on Saturday.

The 18-year-old, who started four of Town's final five games last season, has been pushed down the pecking order this term with Alan McCormack, Chris Lines, James Olayinka and Ryan Watson all being brought to the club.

But Pollock has regularly featured in the matchday squad and against Exeter on Saturday he made the most of his first league appearance since New Year's Day as Cobblers prevailed 2-0 winners.

"It was good to get a few minutes again," he said. "I put in a few tackles not long after I came on and that built my confidence.

"My team-mates were great with me and overall I was happy with the performance.

"There's been a lot of competition in midfield this season with the likes of Chris Lines and Ryan Watson and we've also got Shaun (McWilliams) out injured at the moment.

"Alan's just coming back from injury too . He hadn't played since Boxing Day so it was good to get him back on the pitch for a few minutes on Saturday.

"Hopefully I can keep pushing them and maybe start again soon."

Victory over Exeter on Saturday lifted Town back into the play-off positions and also kept alive their slim hopes of chasing down the top three.

"I think the early goal settled us and it showed our attacking intent," added Pollock.

"Getting it so early in the game gave us the momentum and it got the crowd on our side and helped us get the win.

"We still believe we're in contention for top three. It's a funny league and teams can drop points which suddenly puts you up there.

"Anything's possible but we're definitely hoping for the play-offs at least.

"We've got a tough game on Tuesday but if we play like we did against Exeter and do the basics and keep it simple we've got a good chance of getting a result."
