IN PICTURES: What was happening in the world the last time the Cobblers played Derby County... way back in 1967

The Cobblers host Derby County in the FA Cup fourth round at the PTS Academy Stadium on Friday night (ko 8pm) - the first time the clubs have met in more than 50 years!

Town haven't taken on the Rams in a competitive game since losing to them 4-3 in a Football League Division Two match at the Baseball Ground way back on January 14, 1967.

Their most recent meeting in Northampton saw the Cobblers again on the wrong end of the scoreline, going down 2-0 at the old County Ground in September, 1966.

The fact the clubs haven't met for so long triggered an urge for a trip down 'Memory Lane', to see what was happening in the UK and beyond when the Cobblers and Rams last locked horns all those years ago!

On the local scene, Saints were still an amateur club, while Northamptonshire's cricketers had a mixed season, going out of the Gillette Cup at the quarter-final stage as they lost by 36 runs to Somerset at the County Ground.

In the County Championship, Northants finished ninth out of 17 counties, having played - get this - 28 matches through the course of the summer.

That's twice as many as David Ripley's men will play in 2020.

The County won seven, drew eight and lost 11 of those matches - with two no results.

Away from town and county, who was top of the music charts in the UK and across the pond?

What TV shows were grabbing the public's attention on the old gogglebox in the corner?

What was happening in the world of news and politics?

Who would go on to win Football League title a few months later?

And what happened to both the Cobblers and Derby after that Baseball Ground encounter... you can find it all out here.
