Opposition view: Wilshere admits to Luton's struggles in Cobblers win
Luton Town manager Jack Wilshere admitted his side were not at their best, especially in the first half, during Wednesday’s 2-1 win over now-relegated Northampton.
Cobblers took a surprise but not undeserved lead 31 minutes into the game at Kenilworth Road, Sam Hoskins lobbing superbly over Josh Keeley, but Liam Walsh levelled just before half-time and then Kal Naismith salvaged victory with a brilliant free-kick to keep Luton’s play-off hopes alive.

"It was a special goal to win the game,” said Wilshere. “We just had to find a way tonight. We had such an emotional high at the weekend and I felt we were a bit slow and a bit laboured in the first half and we allowed them to transition on us.
"The last thing we needed after Sunday was to turn it into a basketball game because that’s what they want and that’s what suits them. We turned the ball over too much and we didn’t make good decisions.
"We spoke about those things at half-time and I thought it was a much better performance in the second half. It still wasn’t the best performance but we really had to find a way after the weekend. We missed a few chances and a few of the boys looked tired but the fans stayed with us and they gave us that extra 10 per cent which we needed.
"We know what our ambition is this season and it was really important we got over the line tonight.”
