Opposition view: Rosler felt draw was fair after Fleetwood peg back Cobblers

The Cobblers left Sixfields disappointed not to come away with all three points after spending large periods of the game on top, but Victor Nirennold’s second-half header ensured Rosler’s side earned a point.

“It is a fair result in my opinion,” Rosler told the club’s website.

“Winning promotion last season, Northampton had a lot of momentum going into this one and they have signed some very experienced players.

“I can’t be disappointed about anything because I’ve only had three training sessions with the players. They showed me a lot over those three days and again today, I can only be pleased the way we’ve ground out a result.

“We started the game reasonably well and with the first shot on goal, they scored and we needed a few minutes to adapt to the situation.

“We started to pass the ball and had some very good counter attacks and very good transition play.

“We had good opportunities in and around the box without having clear-cut chances.

“At half-time we changed a few things and at 1-0 down, and in hot conditions, credit to the boys because they started the second half and dominated the game.

“We had more possession and shots on target than them and overall I think it was a fair point for both teams.”
