Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink described himself as 'thrilled' to come away from the PTS with a 'fighting win' over Northampton on Saturday.

Hasselbaink's first return to Sixfields since his sacking in 2018 ended in victory thanks to late goals from Michael Bostwick and Ryan Edwards.

"I'm thrilled with the three points because they're massive and very important for us," said the Dutchman. "It's all about getting that win.

"We can't get too carried away because it's about one game at a time and trying to accumulate as many points as possible, but it was big for us to get back-to-back wins.

"It was a very difficult game today. We weren't sure what they were going to do but they changed formation to a back four and had a lot more energy than normal.

"They were the better team for the first 20, 25 minutes and they made it very difficult for us but we dug in and we stayed with it and we didn't give away many chances.

"I think my goalkeeper only made one save and we stuck with it. The three points are very, very welcome and if we can maintain our quality and keep our energy high, we will give ourselves every chance to win games."
