Cheltenham manager Michael Duff was 'delighted' to squeak past the Cobblers in a 'nervy' and 'cagey' Sky Bet League Two encounter at Whaddon Road on Tuesday.

It was a predictably tight affair between fifth and seventh in the league but the Robins ran out winners thanks to goals from Ryan Broom and Luke Varney, cancelling out Ryan Watson's early opener.

"It was always going to be a close game," said Duff. "It was a close game down at their place but we did shade it on possession and on chances.

"But it was a close game and it was a nervy game and I think both sets of supporters were on the edge of their seats.

"We went 1-0 down and the stats in this league are massive when you score the first goal because it is difficult to come back and win.

"So to do that against a team that's so organised and so diligent in the way they defend, I'm delighted.

"We had a big chance just before the winning goal. It was a great bit of play and probably the first time either team got a one-on-one opportunity.

"I felt in the first-half, and even in the second-half, we played into their hands and we didn't impose ourselves.

"The corner we scored from was one of the times where we played out from the back, played through the lines and move them around and do what we do."
