One Cobblers player has been forced to self-isolate during the coronavirus outbreak, but otherwise the squad is in good health as players continue working on their various fitness regimes away from the PTS Academy Stadium.

Once the club received confirmation that fixtures would be postponed by the EFL last Friday, training was temporarily suspended and all players were sent home with individual fitness programmes to work on.

That remains the case a week into the suspension period and whilst one player has had to take precautions due to COVID-19, manager Keith Curle says his squad are generally in good health.

"We've had one player whose daughter had a classmate at school that showed symptoms, so he was advised to self-isolate with his daughter for 14 days," revealed Curle.

"The standard protocol and procedure was adhered to and that was 10 days ago now so he's coming to the end of that isolation period.

"But everyone else is in good health and hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday next week we'd have no other signs and no other cases."

It's been an unusual week for footballers up and down the country and it's no different at the Cobblers, where Curle and his squad have decided to stay away from one another to limit the risk of catching COVID-19.

But Curle remains in regular contact with his players, adding: "I've been checking up on the welfare of the players and the staff and I've also kept in contact with the football club and the chairman.

"We've all been waiting on updates from the Football League and from the football club to find out when we're able to potentially resume training as a group.

"But at the moment, rather than sending out generic, individual programmes for the players, we've been getting them to contact us and tell us what they've been doing.

"In some instances, we've told them to do a bit less and in other cases we've had to be more specific with the work that some of the players are doing."
