Centre-back suspended after picking up two yellows

Ex-Cobbler Aaron Pierre will miss next week's clash with former club Northampton after being sent off against Portsmouth on Saturday.

The 27-year-old centre-back was already on a yellow when cautioned for a second time by referee Charles Breakspear deep into stoppage-time as Shrewsbury drew 0-0 at Portsmouth.

“It’s a second yellow, unfortunately," said Salop boss Sam Ricketts. "I need to see his first one again but we can’t complain about a second yellow. The referee was left with no option.”

Pierre, who played 68 times in his two years at the Cobblers, will now be suspended for next Saturday's visit of his old club.
