Wilder: Players will be ‘excited’ at prospect of joining Northampton

Manager Chris Wilder is no doubt that there are going to be plenty of players who will be ‘excited’ at the prospect of joining the Cobblers this summer.

The Town boss is in the process of recruiting up to the 12 new players he needs for next season following his end of season cull at Sixfields, and he doesn’t anticipate there being too much problem selling the club to his targets.

Wilder has admitted that he already has the players he wants in mind, and he believes what is happening on and off the pitch at Northampton will make his job of enticing the men he wants easier.

“This is a good club to join,” said Wilder.

“I think people have seen the progression that we have made, people have seen what’s happening off the pitch.

People will have seen the results we have had, especially since January, and the results we have had over the past 18 months have been pretty reasonable.

“It is kicking on here, we know there will be plenty of players that will want to come here, and be excited about joining this football club.”

Meanwhile, the club have announced that James Whiting has been appointed chief executive at Sixfields.

Whiting was already on the club staff as company secretary and financial director.

“I am pleased to appoint James into this role,” said Town chairman David Cardoza.

“James has been fulfilling the role unofficially for a while now and I believe the time is right to make that official.”

“It is a great honour for me to officially take up the post of chief executive at the club,” said Whiting.
