Ian Morris and Matt Heath will return to Cobblers training on Thursday and will be assessed before a decision is made over whether to include them in the matchday squad for Saturday’s game against Torquay United.

Morris was an unused substitute for the game at Southend with a groin strain while Heath missed out completely with a calf problem.

Chris Hackett will certainly miss out as he serves a one-game suspension for his red card at Southend, while Kelvin Langmead (knee) and Alex Nicholls (broken leg) are also on the missing list.

So too is Lewis Hornby, who has had an injection this week in a bid to cure a back injury.

Torquay’s only absentee is goalkeeper Michael Poke, who spent some time on loan at Northampton under Colin Calderwood, and they could feature three ex-Cobblers in their starting line-up.

Ben Harding is in line to play in central midfield, Karl Hawley should start up front and Kevin Nicholson will be at left-back.

Courtney Cameron, who was in the Sixfields youth system before moving to Aston Villa, is likely to be on the bench.
