Knill positive about Torquay’s chances at Sixfields

The Gulls are as long as 3/1 to get a result at Sixfields, where Town beat 17 teams last term and have already despatched Newport County to ensure a winning start to the current home campaign.

But Town have been beaten in both of their away fixtures, and although they were undermined by sendings-off in both games, such statistics do provide a glimmer of hope for Knill.

Torquay have not won a game so far this season but league two generated some unexpected scorelines during the 2012-13 campaign and Knill is hoping it is similarly incalculable this time around.

“We were talking about this the other day in that you can go anywhere in League Two and fancy yourself to win,” said Knill, who was in charge of Torquay when they edged out 1-0 at Sixfields in March.

“Whereas in the Premier League if you are playing Manchester United or Manchester City you are not expected to win and even a two-goal defeat is a result.

“But anybody can beat anybody in our division. Most people will tip the home team to win on Saturday and no one expects us to win apart from us.

“We have to go up there, be positive and keep our concentration. It really is about us and it will be a tough game for Northampton.”
