Knill hails great character of Torquay side after fightback

And the Gulls boss believes that Northampton were not as dominant a force in the first half as has been made out.

Town went ahead through Jacob Blyth’s second goal of his loan spell from Leicester City and although they got into several good positions after that, Torquay keeper Martin Rice was not exactly overworked.

Jordan Chapell went on to score twice in the second half as the away side took the points.

“We’re obviously delighted,” said Knill. “It was a game of two halves and it felt like we were totally dominated in the first half but I think when we look at it again we’ll see that we weren’t.

“The players showed great character. I think that’s the third time this season that we’ve come back from a goal down and for us to get three points here is a great reward for the hard work that the players are putting in.”

Knill was also understandably fulsome in his praise for Chapell, who took both of his goals excellently.

“Jordan (Chapell) has got three for the season now; we’ve set him targets and he’s right on track with all of them,” he said.

“As with all wide players, the thing that makes them different is their ability to put the ball in the back of the net. Both of his goals were great finishes.

“I’m really pleased for him. He’s one of those players you don’t notice is around sometimes. He’s so low maintenance, he just comes in, does his work and then comes in the next day.

“I’m pleased he’s getting his rewards and those rewards come from hard work on the training ground.”
