Although Morecambe did not confirm the number of visiting supporters at the Globe Arena on Tuesday night, they contributed a healthy perecentage of the total 1,366 gate.

Considering the team’s poor away form, the weather and the distance involved, that was an impressive achievement and one instantly acknowledged by Johnson.

“The fans have been unbelievable following us away from home this season,” said Johnson, who lined up at right wing-back in the 1-1 draw.

“Hopefully they can travel to Wycombe as well because we can hear them in these games and their support is brilliant to us.

“They’ve been a big part of our season so far and long may that continue.”

The supporters who made the long trip to Morecambe on Tuesday night looked like they would return home having seen their side sustain a 10th away defeat of the campaign.

But Kelvin Langmead’s late goal - his eighth of the campaign - secured a 1-1 draw that Johnson felt was fully justifed by the team’s performance.

“We know it’s important to keep pushing and keep going in games and we’ve got that about us now,” he said.

“At Morecambe the other night we had players on the bench that are capable of coming on and changing games and they caused havoc for us in that match.

“We had a few scrambles in the first half but we fought really hard and showed good character to come back into the game.

“I knew we were going to score and we deserved to take something from that match.”
