Cobblers winger Hackett set to shrug off injury to play at Wycombe

Town head to Adams Park (7.45pm kick-off) for a game rearranged from its original date of exactly one month ago and on the back of a three-game losing streak.

And they go into the game with two players struggling with injury and two players certainly out, although one of them proposed an early comeback to the manager this week.

“I’ve had Kelvin Langmead knocking on my door telling me he’s okay to play,” said Aidy Boothroyd, who has been without his inspirational club captain since he sustained a knee injury in the Oxford United game on March 23.

“But he’s not ready yet. We need to make sure he is right before he comes back and that everyone is fit to help us finish the job off.”

Another player who is perhaps not 100 per cent fit but who could find himself pressed into action at Wycombe is Clive Platt.

The veteran striker came off the bench for the final 15 minutes of Saturday’s damaging defeat to York City but could get a longer run-out at Adams Park.

“We looked a better team with Clive and Luke Guttridge on the pitch on Saturday so they will both come into contention,” confirmed Boothroyd.

“We’re having to treat him (Platt) with kid gloves a little bit at the moment and it’s the same with Chris Hackett, but he should be fit for the game.”
