Cobblers boss Boothroyd misses out on manager of the month award

Boothroyd was in the running for the monthly gong, along with Rotherham United’s Steve Evans and Burton Albion’s Gary Rowett.

And it was announced today that Brewers boss Rowett has come out on top, after his side won four and drew one of their five games.

Burton were the only unbeaten team in League Two in February, and they scored 16 goals in the process.

Brewers striker and leading scorer Jacques Maghoma was also named the player of the month.

The Cobblers under Boothroyd won four drew one and lost one of their six games in February.

The manager of the month award is decided by former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley, Football League chief operating officer Andy Williamson, League Managers Association deputy CEO Olaf Dixon and Katy Thomas, of sponsors npower.

The Player of the Month panel sees Thomas joined by Wolves legend Don Goodman, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and the Football League’s head of communications, John Nagle.

“It’s great to receive recognition for what we achieved in February and, most importantly, it’s testament to the players and their efforts over the period,” said Rowett.

“I’m also delighted for Jacques, who fully deserves the accolade after some very impressive displays.”

Curbishley commented: “Burton’s fine season continued through February. They are now in a great position to compete for an automatic promotion place.”

Thomas added: “It was clearly a great month for Burton Albion, both in the dugout and on the pitch. It’s very tight up at the top of npower League Two but after a month like this, I’m sure Burton will be brimming with confidence and will back themselves heavily to win automatic promotion.”
