Town’s first ever win over the Rams came courtesy of some wonderful play between Louis Appéré and Hoskins, as well as a resilient defensive showing. Here are our player ratings from a famous afternoon at Sixfields...

9. Mitch Pinnock
Pressed from the front but also tracked back and helped out his defenders when they needed it. Played a key role in providing a link between midfield and attack to make sure Cobblers always carried a threat on the break... 8 Photo: Pete Norton

10. Sam Hoskins
Easily the sharpest and brightest he's looked since returning from injury. World-class finish won the game for Cobblers, such wonderful composure and technique to control Appéré's high, hanging cross and guide his volley into the bottom corner. Great shift for 89 minutes and had one or two half chances to add to his 15 goals for the season... 8.5 Photo: Pete Norton

11. Louis Appéré
An absolute machine as Town's sole forward. Often had no-one anywhere near him but he ran relentlessly, constantly harrying and hassling opposition defenders and chasing down countless lost causes, one of which led to the game's winning goal. It was outstanding work and vision to create Hoskins' first half strike... 9 Photo: Pete Norton

12. Will Hondermarck
Clearly not a natural right-back and miscued a couple of clearances but helped see out the win... 7 Photo: Pete Norton
