Here are our player ratings from St James Park...
1. Ross Fitzsimons
He made five saves in the game but they were all fairly routine. His best stop was probably when he used his legs well to keep out Wareham. Exeter had 11 corners and he was a big reason for why Cobblers dealt with all of them... 7.5 Photo: Pete Norton
2. Max Dyche
Neither he nor Swyer could handle Tutierov as Exeter repeatedly targeted the space behind the right side of Town's defence before half-time. Improved in the second half and one excellent interception led to a good chance on the counter... 7 Photo: Pete Norton
3. Elliott Moore
An absolute titan at the back. Tackled, kicked, cleared and headed everything. He was overwhelmingly the main reason Cobblers kept their first clean sheet in six weeks. There won't be many easier decisions all season than giving him man of the match here... 9 CHRON STAR MAN Photo: Pete Norton
4. Michael Forbes
Intervened crucially on two occasions in the first half, throwing himself in front of Wareham's shot for a superb block and then heading away at the back post when the same man was ready to pounce... 7.5 Photo: Pete Norton
