No Cobblers fans will be allowed into the PTS Academy Stadium for the foreseeable future after Northants was moved into Tier Three by the government.

A club statement confirmed: "Following the latest Government announcement that Northampton has been placed in to Tier 3 of UK Government restrictions with effect from Boxing Day, the matches against Gillingham and Sunderland have unfortunately reverted back to behind closed doors fixtures.

"This means, regrettably, the club have had to cancel all tickets previously issued and supporters who had tickets for those matches should please not attend.

"Matches remain available for season ticket holders to watch on iFollow and will do so for as long as attendance restrictions remain in place.

"As soon as Northampton is moved back down to Tier 2 or lower, we will of course return to admitting season ticket holders to matches but for now, please stay safe and follow the latest Government guidelines.

"Please keep any tickets and emails you have received safe as they may be required for future use. More details will follow in due course.

"Thank you for your support and patience and we very much hope we will be able to see you soon."
