Jon Guthrie scored the only goal - his third of the season - just before half-time and that was enough to split the teams as Town's impressive defensive record continued. Here are our player ratings from Rodney Parade...
9. Mitch Pinnock
His free-kick caused chaos in the penalty box and eventually culminated in Guthrie blasting home. Could have scored himself, or possibly won a penalty, deep into stoppage-time... 7
10. Danny Rose
Succeeded in winding up the home fans by winning a series of first-half fouls, including the free-kick for the game's only goal. Had one shot blocked at close quarters but otherwise was too busy doing the donkey work to get himself into goalscoring positions... 7
11. Nicke Kabamba
Held the ball up well in the first-half and involved in some good link play with those around him, but his wait for a first Cobblers goal goes on, brilliantly denied by Day with a close-range header here... 7
12. Kion Etete
Did a great job of getting hold of the ball and dragging Cobblers up the pitch in the closing stages... 6.5
