New date and time confirmed for Cobblers' trip to rivals Posh

Cobblers' trip to rivals Peterborough United has been confirmed for Friday, April 16, at 7pm.

It was announced on Saturday that all EFL fixtures would be moved this coming weekend to avoid a clash with the funeral of Prince Philip.

Cobblers will now make the shot hop across the border on Friday instead of Saturday.

Northampton confirmed in a club statement: "Northampton Town's Sky Bet League 1 fixture at Peterborough United will be played on Friday night (April 16th).

"The game will kick off at 7pm and has been brought forward a day to avoid a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh which will take place at 3pm on Saturday.

"Following the game, both teams will return to action with midweek fixtures on Tuesday April 20th."

On Saturday evening, the EFL confirmed: “As a mark of respect, EFL matches scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, April 17, will be moved to avoid a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“The EFL will now work with its clubs to determine at what time the matches will be played, giving consideration to the timing of the service.

“An announcement will follow in due course.”
