Midfielder Bryn Morris can't wait to get back to playing regular football again after securing his loan move to the Cobblers.

The 24-year-old has not started a league game since October 10, playing just three cup matches since then, but should soon be back in regular action after leaving Portsmouth and making the temporary switch to Northampton.

The deal ends Keith Curle's long pursuit of the player that dates all the way back to his Carlisle United days.

"I spoke to the gaffer on the phone a few times before I came and he was really keen," said Morris. "I liked the way he came across and his philosophy.

"Most of all he just sounded like a good man manager. I know he tried to sign me on loan before when he was at Carlisle and I was at Middlesbrough so he must like something about me.

"I think he actually tried to get me a couple of times and I would imagine he's watched me with the recruitment people a few times and had a look at who's available.

"It didn't work out before for whatever reason but he came along again and I spoke to him on the phone and now I'm just really glad to get the move over the line.

"What he said about the club evolving and what he's trying to build and achieve here suits me so I'm really looking forward to it. I just want to play regular football again."

Morris has first-hand experience of playing against Northampton this season after coming off the bench during Portsmouth's 4-0 win at Fratton Park.

"I remember when Portsmouth payed against Northampton earlier in the season and it was a tighter game than the scoreline made it look," he added.

"In the first-half Northampton missed a big chance and not so long after that we got one and then got another quickly and kind of run away with it. It was fine margins but that's what this league is about - just that bit of quality up front and having that killer instinct.

"I haven't watched Northampton too many times so I can only really go off that game and how they played that night was a positive for me."
