Michael Jacobs signs for new club after being let go by Cobblers
Michael Jacobs has agreed terms with a new club after he was let go by Cobblers at the end of last season.
The 34-year-old endured a frustrating second spell at Sixfields last season, starting only 14 games in all competitions and scoring two goals as Cobblers were relegated from League One. The club did have an option to extend his contract by 12 months but incoming manager Chris Hogg decided not to take it up.
After a summer without a club, Jacobs has now joined non-league Harborough Town for the 2026/27 season. The Bees are playing in the National League North for the first time in the club’s history, and Jacobs made his debut against Morecambe on Saturday.
“Harborough Town are delighted to announce the signing of the former Northampton Town attacking midfielder Michael Jacobs,” the club confirmed before Saturday’s win over Morecambe.
“The vastly experienced 34-year-old arrives with over 550 senior appearances to his name and featured in League One for the Cobblers last season, having also represented Wolves, Derby County, Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth during his career.
“Jacobs will wear number 29 and is available for selection this afternoon against Morecambe.”
