Cobblers chairman Kelvin Thomas has praised the club's 'fantastic' community work as they continue to send messages and make regular phone calls to vulnerable people within the local area.

Thomas has been chatting to people on the phone over the past few weeks alongside manager Keith Curle and all of the players as the club do their bit to help everyone get through the coronavirus pandemic.

Curle's latest phone call came with Muriel, a supporter of the Cobblers for 73 years, and you can listen to the uplifting conversation through the Youtube video below.

"The community work has been fantastic and we have to give the media team a tremendous about of credit for it with the amount of calls that are being made by myself, Keith and the players," said Thomas.

"The videos that are being made and all that is very impressive and I've spoken to numerous fans now and lockdown is different for them compared to how we see it.

"Some of these older fans see it as proper isolation and it's tough for them but the ones I've spoken to have really appreciated the phone calls and the fact we've taken time to do them."

That's not all the Cobblers are doing during these uncertain times though, as CEO James Whiting revealed: "Schools have remained open to a certain extent to support the vulnerable children and our education programme is still delivering quite a lot of one-to-one work that we do with those children.

"We're delivering a lot of that by video link and that has been invaluable to the schools and to those individuals and also the parents as well."
