Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala is readying his players for a ‘really tough game’ against an ‘aggressive’ Northampton team.

The Imps are just a point outside the play-off places after a strong start to the season and they are coming off an excellent 2-1 victory over Stockport County at the weekend.

"Every team in this league is tough,” said Skubala. “They all have their different styles and you have got to be on it. That’s the biggest thing.

"We know how difficult League One is this season and Northampton can go and beat Crawley 3-0 like they did so we have to be on it but the key is consistency from game to game and putting in the best performance we can.

"We might have to win games in different ways but our group is still growing and I thought it was a really good performance on Saturday against Stockport and we deserved the three points.

"But that one’s done and you can’t get too high or too low and we move on to Northampton. We know that will be a really tough game. They have been fighting down there but they are a good team.

"They are aggressive with the ball, they have some really good players and they're dominant at set-pieces and the way they are set up makes them very hard to beat. They give nothing away and they can catch teams so we have to be really good without the ball otherwise they will hurt us.

"But we are at home so we want to take the game to them and be aggressive.”
