Cobblers are still outside the Sky Bet League One relegation zone following a mixed day for their rivals at the bottom of the table.

Town were not in action after their fixture with 23rd-placed Wigan Athletic was postponed. Rock-bottom Burton Albion also had a day off as their trip to Blackpool succumbed to COVID.

In the games that did take place, there was a big win for Rochdale who defeated relegation rivals Bristol Rovers 2-1 after Alex Newby struck either side of half-time. Dale are three points above the Cobblers but have played two games more. Bristol Rovers remain on 23 points.

Elsewhere, MK Dons pulled further clear of trouble by beating woefully out-of-form AFC Wimbledon, who remain one place and one point below Northampton.

Swindon, in 22nd, lost narrowly at new leaders Hull City but Shrewsbury picked up an impressive and surprising victory over Peterborough United. Salop are up to 17th.

At the other end of the division, previous leaders Lincoln missed two penalties in defeat to Doncaster Rovers.
