Kyle McAdam 'excited' after completing move to new club as Cobblers trialist heads elsewhere
Wheeldon spent time on trial at Sixfields earlier in pre-season
Kyle McAdam’s move to Southend United has been completed.

The 21-year-old left-back scored one goal in eight games while on loan at Northampton from Nottingham Forest. The club did have an option to buy McAdam permanently at the end of last season but new boss Chris Hogg decided not to pursue such a deal.
McAdam spent time on trial at an EFL club earlier in pre-season before linking up with Southend, and he’s impressed enough to earn a two-year deal. The move was confirmed on Monday afternoon, shortly after Harry Boyes left Roots Hall for York City.
“It feels great, and it feels right, which is important,” said McAdam. “I’m excited for the season ahead and to get going on Saturday. Fans can expect energy, aggression, and directness from me. I want to get forward and involved in attacking play.”
Meanwhile, forward Lennon Wheeldon, who spent time on trial at Northampton in the early stages of pre-season, has now joined fellow ex-Town trialist Jake Rooney at Boston United. The 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on an initial one-year contract, with a second year option, after leaving Derby County at the end of last season.
