Cobblers forward Ricky Korboa admitted he struggled to take any joy from scoring his second goal of the season after his 62nd minute strike against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday was not enough to prevent another defeat.

Town were approaching 400 minutes without a league goal when Korboa collected a pass from Sam Hoskins and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner, cancelling out Frank Nouble's first-half opener.

However, with only four minutes to go, Kell Watts was left unmarked to convert a corner and condemn Town to a fourth straight league defeat.

"We're very disappointed to lose the game," admitted Korboa. "I felt we were the better side and we had our chances but unfortunately two sloppy goals has given them the three points and it wasn't to be.

"Both goals were sloppy. It wasn't as if they broke down us down. One came from a cross and then another from a corner where we didn't pick up our men and let them go.

"As a whole, it's frustrating to have played well and to have worked so hard and lost the game. We had our chances to win but now we need to put it right on Tuesday."

Korboa, who was playing for Carshalton Athletic last season, ended Town's goal drought with an excellent finish after good work from Hoskins.

"All credit to Sam because he did a lot of the work," he added. "When I got the ball off Sam, I tried to come inside the first defender and then I took it onto my left and hit it hard and low and hoped for the best.

"It was nice to get a goal and I thought we could have gone on and won the game from there. I thought we relaxed today and we played football and you saw we played well. We're just missing the end product to get the three points."

Korboa is only a handful of games into his very first season as a professional footballer but he's adapted impressively.

He continued: "It's a lot harder! There's a big difference in fitness levels and it's very demanding but you've just got to get on with it and do what you've got to do and progress from there.

"The first thing is to work hard and work from the front and everything else will follow - assists, goals, whatever it may be

"But right now getting three points is the main thing because we need points on the board and hopefully on Tuesday we can do that."
