Young defender Peter Kioso has vowed to 'give his all' to the Cobblers during his time on loan at the club from Luton Town.

The 21-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at MK Dons, secured a temporary switch to Northampton on Monday, becoming Keith Curle's fourth signing of the January transfer window.

Kioso is primarily a right-back but can play further forward at wing-back or slot into the centre of defence if required.

"The gaffer spoke to me about either playing at right-back or right wing-back," he said. "But I can play wherever I'm needed - all the way across the back four. I'm ready to do a job for the team.

"The gaffer has told me what he wants from him and now it's up to me to show him what I'm capable of. I'm a right-back by trade and that's my preferred position.

"I'll get up and down the pitch and bring energy and hard work to the team, which is the most important thing. I won't give in and I'll give my all - that's what you will see from me every time I step on the pitch."

Kioso will also hope to add something to Town's attack having scored three goals and claimed two assists in 13 games with Bolton Wanderers earlier in the season.

"I'll contribute going forward," he added. "The gaffer knows I got a few goals and a couple of assists with Bolton but my first job is to defend.

"I have to make sure that side of my game is sorted, but I also want to have an impact going forward whether that's scoring a goal or being involved in the play or getting an assist. I like to help my team in every way I can."

And Kioso knows he's in for a fight right from the get-go with Cobblers trying to battle their way out of a relegation scrap at the bottom of League One.

He continued: "It'll be a different type of battle but I've watched from afar and since I found out Northampton were interested in signing me, I looked up the results and saw some of the highlights.

"I don't think the team should be down there. There's a good squad here and I know that things will start clicking soon and we will show everyone what we're capable of and that we can be higher than we are at the moment."
