Key Cobblers duo could return for Southend clash

Justin Edinburgh doesn't expect to have any of his injured players back for Tuesday's clash with Swindon Town at Sixfields.

But the Town boss says centre-back Gabriel Zakuani and striker Alex Revell could return for Saturday’s trip to Southend United.

Luke Williams could miss that match as he is currently back with parent club Scunthorpe United, who are assessing the player’s knee injury.

But Edinburgh is upbeat about the current injury situation, with right-back Brendan Moloney another man who is closing in on a welcome comeback.

“The positive for me is that everyone is progressing well and everyone is getting closer,” Edinburgh said.

“I don’t think we’ll have anyone back tomorrow, but I do envisage that we will have Gaby and Revs back for Southend.

“Brendan won’t be too far behind that.

“We’ll look at Luke Williams because he’s gone back to Scunthorpe after having an injection on his knee on Thursday or Friday and he’ll be assessed.

“We’ll speak with him today and that will give us an indication on the timescale of that.

“It’s positive and we’ll always look to get them back sooner rather than later, but when we do get them back we need them to stay fit and maintain their place in the squad for the duration of the season.”
