Kevin Nolan dismisses suggestion Cobblers lack 'depth' after deadline day misses
Kevin Nolan says he’s ‘delighted’ with the squad Cobblers have put together this summer and he’s confident they have enough depth to be a competitive League One outfit.
Attacking midfielder Kyle Edwards arrived at Sixfields after the window swung shut on Monday to become Northampton’s 15th summer addition, and he was followed through the door by young goalkeeper Theo Avery on Tuesday, but, much to the disappointment of many supporters, there was no new number nine.

Nonetheless, whilst Nolan made no secret of his desire to strengthen at the top end of the pitch before Monday’s deadline, he’s happy with the options at his disposal.
"I'm delighted with the squad we've put together this summer,” said Nolan. “We're in a good place, we have people coming back from injury and we're looking strong.
"I think we can double up in every position and that's always a good sign. The lads are feeling good mentally because of the two wins and they also look physically strong, as you saw at the end of the game on Saturday.
"We’re a team that is going to be OK this season and I'm expecting big things from the squad. I'll be pushing them to achieve what we want. That's my job, to get the best out of them, and I feel we've done great business. Sixteen players coming in, with lots going out, we've done well.”
Whilst Cobblers wanted to bring in another striker, and they were close to one, Nolan feels he has enough attacking options.
"We worked hard to get a number nine in that would match what we have but I think people forget what we have in the building with Ethan (Wheatley) and Tom (Eaves),” he added. “There's also (Elliott) Listy and Sam Hoskins who can play up there.
"I feel I'm stacked with quality, especially now we've added Kyle. Kamarai (Swyer) is coming back, Crackers (Michael Jacobs) is coming back and we've already got Cam McGeehan and Ty (Fornah) so I feel I have a strong squad. I'm able to look at the bench and feel I'm able to change the front three and have a different dynamic at any stage of the game so I'm very pleased.
"Now we need to work with the players and get the best out of them. We are getting better game by game and they're demanding a lot from each other, which is fantastic for me.”
