Cobblers centre-back Lloyd Jones would be happy to see Jon Brady given the manager’s job until the end of the season.

Brady has taken temporary charge of four games so far and whilst he is yet to taste victory, he believes he can keep the Cobblers in Sky Bet League One if given the job on a more permanent basis.

Asked if he’d like to see Brady continue in the role, Jones said: “100 per cent.

“The points haven’t been there but we scored three goals on Saturday and I feel like we’re creating a lot of chances – hopefully now they start going in.”

Jones also believes the players are enjoying working under the current boss, adding: “We’ve gone to a four at the back since the new gaffer came in and I think it’s something we’re more familiar with.

“It gives us a bit more solidity and means we’re less open when the ball goes out into wide positions and we’re also trying to play a bit more.

“The conditions and the pitch made it tough (on Tuesday) but it’s the same for both teams and I think the lads are enjoying working with him.”

Jones was partnered in defence by Alan Sheehan on Tuesday as Town kept a fifth clean sheet in 10 games, but another blank at the other end made for a frustrating evening.

“I really enjoyed playing with Fraser (Horsfall) in the previous two games and I felt we had a good connection, but obviously there was a change and Shees is more experienced,” said Jones.

“He keeps the boys going and he’s a good communicator as well, but it doesn’t really matter who I’m playing with, I’m just trying to keep the ball out of the net.

“I feel like we’re in games a lot more now and I think we’re creating the chances. Hopefully the tide will turn and those chances will start going in, but we can only do our job because it’s our responsibility to get the three points.

Despite their 11-game winless run, Cobblers are still only two points from safety ahead of another big game this weekend as they head to Swindon Town.

Jones added: “It’s tight down there but I’ll only start looking at the table when we get three points - I don’t see much point until that happens!

“We’ve been in so many games but we haven’t got the wins and that’s the most important thing.

“Let’s hope we can get back to winning ways. I don’t care if it’s 10-9, we just need to go there and get all three points."
