Jon Brady and Sol Campbell have been made the early frontrunners with the bookmakers to be named next permanent manager of the Cobblers.

Keith Curle was dismissed by Northampton on Wednesday afternoon after 28 months in charge. Assistant manager Colin West also departed.

Brady, who spent six years with Brackley Town, has been named caretaker manager and he's the early favourite to take the permanent job, priced at 11/4 with league sponsors SkyBet.

Second favourite is Sol Campbell at 4/1. The former England and Arsenal defender took charge of Macclesfield Town in 2018 before being appointed by Southend United the following year, but he left the Shrimpers last summer after their relegation from League One.

Stephen Robinson, who resigned as Motherwell manager in December, is next at 8/1 followed by Paul Tisdale (9/1). Tisdale was sacked by fellow League One strugglers Bristol Rovers just moments before Northampton announced the departure of Curle on Wednesday afternoon.

The following names are also in the frame: Gary Caldwell (10/1), Kevin Wilkin (10/1), John Eustace (12/1), Craig Bellamy (14/1), Steven Pressley (14/1), Chris Powell (16/1), Danny Cowley (16/1), Gary Holt (16/1), Alan Stubbs (20/1) and Ian Holloway (20/1).
