Nicky Adams admits it has been a 'very strange' couple of weeks for himself and his team-mates at the Cobblers who are having to find other ways to entertain themselves away from the football pitch.

It's now 10 days since the season was suspended due to the coronavirus and a resumption is still some way off with the EFL postponing all fixtures until at least April 30.

Cobblers halted training soon after the season was suspended and look unlikely to be back at the PTS Academy Stadium any time soon, shelving plans to return this week.

Players have instead been spending time with their families whilst also looking after their fitness levels in preparation for the season restarting.

"It's very strange in every sense," admitted Adams. "This has never happened to me before and I think I can speak for the rest of the EFL because it's probably never happened to them either.

"We've just got to deal with it. I'm frustrated because football is my life and it's what I do but I'm also a positive person and we can only listen to the advice and stick to the guidelines.

"It's a worrying time for everyone and it's also a frustrating time because football is a big part of everyone's life, certainly mine.

"There's no-one more frustrated than myself and my team-mates and the manager but people's health comes first and we've got to look after those vulnerable people."

Adams still has one eye on the season resuming, especially with Cobblers well-placed in the League Two promotion battle.

"It might be a good thing for us because we had a few injuries and they will come back fresh, but we've just got to get on with it," he added.

"We'll get these next few weeks out the way and hopefully we can get back in training and start playing games again because we're in that top seven and there's everything to play for."
