Cobblers boss Keith Curle has showered praise on in-form Ricky Korboa after the forward continued his impressive start to life as a professional footballer with another goal at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

The 23-year-old has stepped up four levels after signing for Town from Isthmian League outfit Carshalton Athletic in the summer, but so far he's made the transition look plain-sailing.

He impressed in the cup against Cardiff City on debut before scoring and being named man of the match against AFC Wimbledon the following weekend. After a brief spell out injured, Korboa was again the standout performer with another goalscoring performance at Home Park on Saturday.

"He had been at Carshalton for a while and it's a big jump up for him but the kid has blended in within the group very well," said Curle.

"He asks questions and he's so enthused that he is a professional footballer because it's been a dream of his. He was semi-pro and he had a part-time job working at Wickes and it was his ambition to climb the pyramid and become a professional footballer.

"He's now living that dream and every day he comes in with a smile on his face. He wants to learn, he wants to develop and he wants to improve.

"Credit goes to the recruitment team. He wasn't on my radar until Simon (Tracey) brought him to me and then you do your due diligence, you look at his background, his character and his ability and what he could bring.

"There were lots of boxes that were ticked and I think the lad will go from strength to strength the more he adapts and adjusts to full-time training and being in this environment.

"He's very grounded and that comes from having to get up early for work and doing shifts. Now he's living the dream and there's no such thing as hard work for him. Going on the training ground for two, three, hour hours, the lad loves it.

"I enjoy being around players that have got that hunger and that enthusiasm and when you talk to Ricky about formations, he will play anywhere you want. He just wants to be in the team."
