‘I take accountability’ - Brackley Town boss Andy Whing eyes Saints redemption
Brackley Town are firmly in the National League relegation battle ahead of this weekend’s clash with mid-table Woking.
Head coach Andy Whing has failed to make the immediate impact desired, overseeing a team struggling for consistency from half to half.

The Saints need wins and they need them fast as they host Woking at St James Park this Saturday, while Whing’s side were due to take on Eastleigh away on Tuesday night (see details online).
Last week, Brackley were never expected to beat top side Rochdale and play-off certainties Boreham Wood, though they managed to score five goals across the two away trips.
But the Saints have been incredibly poor defensively and conceded eight goals across those two matches alone.
“I thought we looked too open and I take accountability for that, 100 per cent,” Whing told @BrackleyTownFC after the 5-3 defeat at Boreham Wood.
“We were nowhere near. We got battered basically for half an hour.
“I had to change the shape. From then on, I thought we were absolutely magnificent.
“It was the best we’ve played by a million miles, we created seven or eight glorious chances.
“We’ve obviously got back into the game, 3-0 down to 3-3. That’s magnificent.
“We’ve come to a team that’s absolutely flying and we’ve created seven or eight glorious opportunities.
“We’ve still got to be better in terms of conceding chances. But all in all, if we forget the first 30 minutes, we were magnificent and have to take that forward.”
As Whing says, there have certainly been good signs. Brackley just need to put it all together sooner rather than later, and shut up shop defensively.
