New signing Fraser Horsfall has promised Cobblers fans that he 'won't leave anything on the pitch' when he puts the shirt this season.

The 23-year-old centre-back became Town's fourth signing of the summer when snapped up on a two-year deal from Macclesfield Town earlier today (Friday).

Horsfall left Huddersfield in 2017 and plied his trade in non-league for several years, mainly at Kidderminster Harriers, before spending last season at League Two side Macclesfield.

"I'm a big, tall, physical defender but I also like to get on the ball and I want to be aggressive and give 110 per cent every game - I won't leave anything out on the pitch," said Horsfall after agreeing a two-year contract at the PTS.

"I'm ready for the step up now. I feel like I'm ready and I just want to test myself and hopefully kick-on with Northampton and be up there in League One next season.

"I backed myself when I worked my way up in non-league and I back myself again now I'm playing in League One so hopefully I can show what I'm about and see what happens from there."

As with Town's previous signings, the opportunity to play in League One was a big pull for Horsfall.

He added: "Obviously getting promoted was a big positive for the club last season and for me personally, a League One team is where I wanted to be and that was my ambition.

"I watched the play-offs and I really liked what I saw. I like how they play and I like the manager and as it showed in the play-offs, they're a really strong team and that's what I want to be involved in.

"I think it's a club on the up and I'm obviously delighted to now be here."
