Hogg has made changes behind the scenes at Cobblers ahead of pre-season

Cobblers boss Chris Hogg says he has made ‘changes around the place’ to give his players ‘the best possible environment’ for the start of pre-season.

Having been in post for just over a month, the Town manager will work with his squad for the first time next week when they return to Moulton for training. And whilst the players have been off enjoying their holidays, Hogg has been busy behind the scenes.

"The club have been great in terms of getting the environment right," said Hogg on Wednesday. "There have been some changes around the place and there's hopefully a few more to come in terms of the changing ground and the stadium. James (Whiting) and Colin (Calderwood) have put in a lot of effort behind the scenes and we've all worked really hard."

Asked to elaborate on those changes, Hogg explained: "It's just a few little bits around the training ground and reorganising a few things. There's some logistical stuff we've looked at in terms of food and there's some areas of the training ground which we've modified to try and expand that and make improvements where we can to give the players the best possible environment.

"There won't be any drastic changes but the boys will hopefully feel it because we're trying to improve things. The rate of change I would like would be tomorrow but I understand where we are as a club and the people behind the scenes have been really good.

"We've had good conversations on where we think the club can go and it's just about building blocks because nothing is built in five or six weeks. It's a gradual process, both on the pitch in terms of building the team, but also off the pitch in terms of developing the club.”

After a ‘busy’ first month at the helm, Hogg’s excited to get on with the proper stuff as pre-season kicks off.

"The players are back in for testing this week and then we'll be back on the grass next week,” he added. “Once that happens and we get that energy and I get a feel for them and get to know them, that's when it'll feel like like we have truly started.

"I can't wait for it. That's the part of the job I'm most passionate about. Players give you a different energy and hopefully they will feel the benefit of how we've planned everything and all the preparation we've done.”
