Hide AdMorton, who's also impressed with his work ethic and energy off the ball, was the third Northampton player to be nominated for a monthly award this season, following Nicky Adams (January) and Scott Wharton (November), but the first to win it.
He beat off competition from Cheltenham full-back Chris Hussey, Port Vale centre-back Leon Legge and Grimsby striker Charles Vernam.
As for the manager award, that went to Cheltenham boss Michael Duff.
