'Great signing for that level' - What Doncaster fans have said about James Maxwell's move to Cobblers
New Town signing spent four years and played over 100 games for Donny
The 24-year-old was confirmed as Northampton’s third summer signing when he penned a two-year deal on Tuesday afternoon.
He spent four years and played more than 100 games for Doncaster before his release last month, and here’s what their supporters on social media have made of his switch to Sixfields...

Decent signing this is for both Northampton and James! Attacking left back with injuries limiting his time at the rovers and it was only right to go our separate ways wish him nothing but success!
@BaileyVickerage
Great signing for L2. Cracking player when he’s fit and hopefully he can get regular football and get back to the level we saw at Donny. Potential to be a top end L1 player at least when fit. All the best James!
@Nathan_wright01
Will absolutely thrive if he’s fit at your level, shown glimpses of class but just inconsistent and struggles with injuries
@LPlatten
Great player. Good signing for Northampton. Loved him at Donny had a few injuries but the time was right for both parties to move on
@RobbieAndrews8
Safe to say Northampton have recruited an all round brilliant bloke, as well as a very good left-back
