Striker Callum Morton says he is 'massively grateful' for the opportunity he was given at the Cobblers last season.

The 20-year-old, in his first spell in the Football League, scored eight goals in 12 games, including three in the play-offs, and was key in Town winning promotion at Wembley.

But he will not be returning to the PTS Academy Stadium after West Brom instead opted to send him to League One rivals Lincoln City.

"Would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved at Northampton for last season," tweeted Morton.

"Thank you to the manager and staff for giving me a chance and the platform to develop, the players and of course the fans for taking to me so well.

"I couldn't have hoped for a better ending! I wish everyone involved all the best for this season."

Morton also added: "Delighted to sign a new contract at West Brom and can’t wait to get started on loan and progress forward at Lincoln City.

"Looking forward to a successful season and will give my all towards that. Thank you all for the welcome."
