Former Northampton pair released by Stevenage as Callum Morton joins new club
Stevenage have released two former Northampton Town players this morning, while Callum Morton has joined a new club.
Beryly Lubala and Tyreece Simpson have both left Boro following their play-off defeat to Stockport County. Simpson scored three league goals in 40 games whilst on loan at Sixfields during the 2023/24 season. He joined Stevenage in 2024 but struggled for consistent game-time. "Gutted but not surprised,” Simpson posted on social media following his release. “What a dressing room, what a fan base. Thank you.”

Lubala will also be a free agent following one season at the Lamex. The 28-year-old, who played 14 times for Cobblers in 2022, only managed one goal in 35 appearances for Alex Revell’s side. “It was a disappointing end to the season to fall short of our target,” tweeted Lubala. “However, playing with this exceptional group and achieving the club’s highest-ever league finish is something we can all be proud of. Thank you to everyone associated with Stevenage Football Club for your support and encouragement throughout the season.”
Meanwhile, Morton has joined Torquay United after leaving Worthing. The 26-year-old was released by the National League South champions this month but returns to the club where he started his career.
