Former Cobblers winger Michael Jacobs will miss tomorrow's meeting with his old club after suffering injury against Sunderland at the weekend.

The 28-year-old was forced off after 55 minutes at the Stadium of Light as Portsmouth registered an impressive 3-1 victory over their promotion rivals.

Pompey boss Kenny Jackett believes Jacobs, who came through the youth ranks at Northampton, faces a few weeks on the sidelines with a knee issue, although the club are still waiting for the results of his scan.

"He’s having a scan today and the initial reaction without a scan is four to six weeks," said Jackett. "That’s what the guys think.

"It is what is, and we just hope now that the scan doesn’t throw anything worse at us. He gives us natural balance in a 4-4-2 system but you know injuries are going to come and it happens to every club.

"That is why you have a squad and we will work a way. There is enough of the season where he can make a contribution. We know he is going to anyway and hopefully he recovers quickly."

Ellis Harrison is back in training after a hamstring problem but he's unlikely to feature on Tuesday. New signing Jordy Hiwula, however, is fully fit and could start.
